Oktoberfest and Marriage

Happy Octoberfest, Happy Reformation Day, and Autumn Greetings!

Oktoberfest and Marriage Reflections: Oktoberfest is my third favorite holiday and marriage is something, which I long for. Oktoberfest is a holiday, a season, and a festival all rolled into one. Oktoberfest is not only about drinking beer, but it is also about celebrating German Heritage and celebrating the marriage of King Ludwig I of Bavaria and Princess Theresa of Saxony. King Ludwig I was a Roman Catholic and Princess Theresa of Saxony was a Lutheran. They were married on October 12, 1810 in Munich, Germany. Granted Bavaria and Saxony were separate and independent countries back then like most of the German States, since unification did not take place until 1871. Sadly, King Ludwig I was unfaithful to Queen Theresa, but she was a good wife to Ludwig, a good mother to their children, and a good queen to the Bavarians with her community service and alms giving to the poor. Queen Theresa had a lot of good works out of Faith in Yahweh, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and love for her husband, children, and adoptive countrymen and women. King Ludwig I sadly cheated on Queen Theresa with several women, whom he had steamy affairs with. Queen Theresa would have had the right to divorce King Ludwig I for his ramped infidelity according to the Law of Moses, but she knew, that this would not have been pleasing to Yahweh, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, so she kept her marriage vows and she remained loyal and faithful to her husband inspite of his infidelity.

Let us read the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark Chapter 10:1-16:

"10:1 And He (Jesus) arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto Him again; and, as He was wont, He taught them again. And the Pharisees came to Him, and asked Him, 'Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?' tempting Him. And He answered and said unto them, 'What did Moses command you?' And they said, 'Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.' And Jesus answered and said unto them, 'For the hardness of your heart, he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.'

10 And in the house, His disciples asked Him again of the same matter. 11 And He saith unto them, 'Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.'

13 And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and His disciples rebuked those that brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, 'Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the Kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.' 16 And He took them up in His Arms, put His Hands upon them, and blessed them" (KJV 1611).

My Green Irish Angel Statues: My Green Irish Angel Statues are really cute! They are only $1 each and they make great gifts. I have three kinds: 1. Cross-Bearing Angels, 2. Praying Angels, and 3. Angels Holding Butterflies. I like the Cross-Bearing Angels the best, because they are carrying Crosses. Each one bearing a Cross reminds us, that Jesus died on the True Cross to save every single person from death, Hell, Satan, Satan's Demons, Original Sin from Adam and Eve, and their personal sins. They're available exclusively at The Menagerie behind Beer Barrel in the St. Marys Business Complex in St. Marys, Ohio.
