Happy Easter and Spring Greetings!
The following blog post is my first forum post for my History class about Ancient Warfare at American Military University (AMU):
My name is James W. O’Flannery and I am excited to be sharing with all of you, what I learned about Ancient Warfare in History 611 at American Military University (AMU) with all of you. I graduated from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio in 2010. I graduated from The Ohio State University at Lima with an Associates of Arts in General Studies in 2012 and I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Humanities aka Classics aka Ancient Greek and Roman Civilizations. Currently I am pursuing my Master of Arts in Ancient and Classical History online here at American Military University (AMU) and I am taking History 611 Ancient Warfare for four reasons: 1. It should serve as a nice refresher course for my Greek and Roman History, 2. I will be turning all of my forum posts, my replies to my classmates’ forum posts, and my essays for this class into a history book, 3. War fascinates me, and 4. I needed it for my MA in Ancient and Classical History.
I started my publishing company, Ohio Irish Lutheran Press (OIL Press), in 2011, when my first book The Adventures of Richard McMurphy came out on August 11, 2011. I have written and published six books and I have several more in the works. I have been a published author for almost ten years now and I hope to publish the Ten Year Anniversary Edition of The Adventures of Richard McMurphy sometime before Christmas 2021. Sadly, the Corona Virus has slowed me way down and I am busier than ever. Speaking of the Corona Virus, I survived it twice; once in Advent 2019 and Advent 2020.
Some of my long term goals are to write and publish more books, finish my MA in Ancient and Classical History sometime before my 31st birthday in 2022, teach History at the college level, start pursuing my Masters of Divinity at The American Lutheran Theological Seminary (ALTS), become a Lutheran pastor for my church-body, The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), and our sister church-body, The American Association of Lutheran Churches (AALC), host more craft and vendor shows, find a good wife, and have some kids. I host the Vaughnsville Craft and Vendor Show on the last Saturday of October every year since last year and I am currently looking for vendors for several craft and vendor shows. I have a variety of interests, but I most enjoy promoting conservative Lutheran Christianity and selling books and other things.
I also own a small flea marketing business called Ohio Book Mart and More (OBM&M) and I specialize in both new and used books. I am currently publishing a book for my friend, Larry Wren, who does a lot of the artwork for my books. Larry Wren is a retired U.S. Military Policeman, a retired Lima Policeman, a retired U.S. Customs Agent, and a retired security guard for the Allen County Museum in Lima, Ohio. Larry’s book is called My Forty Years in Law Enforcement and it is full of awesome pictures about Larry’s life. I enjoy discussing theology, politics, art, music, and history with Larry. Larry Wren is like a grandpa to me.
Let us read Psalm 46:
"46 God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present Help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the City of God, the Holy Place of the Tabernacles of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: He uttered His voice, the earth melted. 7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge. Selah. 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations He hath made in the earth. 9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; He burneth the chariot in the fire. 10 'Be still, and know, that I AM God: I will be exalted among the Heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.' 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge. Selah" (KJV 1611).

My Green Irish Angel Statues: My Green Irish Angel Statues are really cute! They are only $1 each and they make great gifts. I have three kinds: 1. Cross-Bearing Angels, 2. Praying Angels, and 3. Angels Holding Butterflies. I like the Cross-Bearing Angels the best, because they are carrying Crosses. Each one bearing a Cross reminds us, that Jesus died on the True Cross to save every single person from death, Hell, Satan, Satan's Demons, Original Sin from Adam and Eve, and their personal sins. They're available exclusively at Jen's Furniture and Collectibles (JFC) on the corner High Street and Chestnut Street in between Circle K Gas Station and Zion Lutheran Church (NALC) in St. Marys, Ohio.
Stores Carrying My Books: My books, which I’ve written and published, are also available at the following stores: Brunner News Agency on Flanders Avenue in Lima, Ohio, Jen’s Furniture and Collectibles (JFC) on High Street in St. Marys, Ohio, The Menagerie at 1178 Indiana Avenue behind Beer Barrel in the St. Marys Business Complex in St. Marys, Ohio, Readmore Hallmark Stores out at Eastgate Plaza and on Elm Street in Lima, Ohio, Wagner's IGA Grocery Store in Minster, Ohio, and in the Shop section of my website ohioirishlutheranpress.com .
Thank you!
